Fundraising calender - 01-14/07/11 - The Three Amigo's LEJOG - Land's End to John O'Groats
Three old school friends, Tom, Jim and Ol have just cycled the 1000 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for Pass It On Africa. After 980 miles, over 43,000 ft of climbing (1.5x the height of Everest!), 14 days and ~80,000 calories each, our team of 3 have successfully cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats. It was a great experience, with the weather pretty kind, some fantastic scenery and lots of friendly people.
In a bizarre but brilliant quirk of fate, we also spent the final evening riding with Lance Armstrong (7 times winner of the Tour De France) at an impromptu 'flash mob' cycle ride in Scotland! (See the photo to the right).
We've got celebrity on our side as award winning comic Miranda Hart is also supporting us:
Miranda comments: "As someone who has done the John O’ Groats to Land's End bicycle ride, I can assure you that it is a real challenge. Not only some hard core hills to mentally and physically get over, but cycling brings it’s whole range of problems, mainly in the chaffing department. So for that alone, these guys need your support. And how wonderful to get the chance to contribute to such a wonderful charity that will make such a difference to a local region in Africa. So dig deep, as they will have to, to get up those hills"
So whatever you can spare as a donation would be hugely appreciated. So far we have raised £6,973 for our cycling efforts. This money will be pooled together with the fantastic £17,200 raised by the Repton School through their Lent Term Charity Campaign - a truly amazing achievement by both pupils and staff at the school. This total will be used to fund the building of the Dreamlands Junior School in Ghana.
